Toolmaker Expands and Enhances Performance
01 Jun 2005
In response to customer demand, CNC jig grinding and CNC wire EDM subcontractor Bedestone Ltd, has extended its range of subcontract services in a controlled expansion programme that has seen the emergence of Bedestone Precision Engineering Ltd and Bedestone Manufacturing Ltd. The company has recently been accredited with AS9100 Aerospace approval, and also has taken assurance and traceability to a new level with the acquisition of a Zeiss MP5 CMM.
Bedestone's reorganisation has enabled the addition of complementary services: Conventional spark EDM added to its wire EDM; Jig boring added to its jig grinding; and the complete manufacture of mould tools and fixturing added to its gauge manufacture.
The company's accreditation to the AS9100 American standard is meant to compliment other specific aerospace requirements such as Rolls Royce, Goodrich, and Smiths Aerospace, and puts Bedestone onto the 'OASIS' worldwide database of approved companies for the aerospace industry.
As quality systems have evolved, and computer technology has opened up the boundaries of managing precision engineering today, the CMM method of producing independent inspection reports has became an important part of Bedestone's service.
The Zeiss MP5 CMM is one of the few CMM's that could compete with the accuracy of Bedestone's Moore and Hauser jig grinders, and the Charmilles wire eroders.
