Unprecedented Hat-Trick of Supplier Awards Won

Ford Components Aerospace Division of South Shields, Tyne and Wear, has won three top awards at the annual Westland Transmissions Ltd (WTL) Supplier Awards Presentation event. This unprecedented hat trick reinforces Ford's growing presence and reputation in the aerospace sector.

The company beat off fierce worldwide competition to become 'Supplier of the Year', 'Machined Components Supplier' and the 'Most Innovative Supplier' in 2004. It was the first time that any subcontractor to the helicopter manufacturer had been selected for all three awards in a single year.

Ford (best known in the past as a traditional pressed components manufacturer) has seen business take off in a big way following the launch of its dedicated aerospace division. In fact, aerospace now accounts for some 60% of company turnover.

Ford's operations director, Trevor Noble, said after the awards ceremony: "Building and developing this sort of relationship takes time and effort on both sides. We have become involved in wider business issues during the last year, including the expansion of consignment stocking and making direct deliveries to the end user."
