Iris Specialist Sets Up New Sheet Metal Service
01 Jun 2005
A new sheet metal working subcontractor, Pearlfisher Engineering Ltd, has been set up on the former site of Temple Shearing and Engineering Ltd of Burgess Hill.
Pearlfisher is a sister company to iris manufacturer Wilkes Iris Diaphragm Co Ltd, which will relocate to the same premises. Pearlfisher Engineering Ltd will be undertaking the original work of Temple Shearing, and also the precision punching and sheet metalwork of Wilkes. Completion is set for Thursday September 1st 2005.
Wilkes Iris has over a century of iris manufacturing expertise behind it, and is a force to be recognised in precision pressing and milling. The original work on irises provided an above-average technology base. In recent years a growing percentage of output has been to other sheet metal products, some associated with concert lighting, and disco/night club lights, but many outside this sector such as architectural and gallery illumination.
Fine blanking in metal sheet from 10 microns to 6mm, and to 'tool-room tolerances', are the order of the day with a variety of coatings and finishes available. With this demand the factory has continued to grow and develop, with larger presses and CNC machinery introduced, a further expansion is planned to keep up with the demands of a still growing customer base.
After September 1st, www.pearlfisherengineering. com and new telephone number 01444 258696 will apply.
