In Two Years, Start Up Turns £100k pm and Wins Work Away From USA

In just two years since AEL (Dorset) Ltd began trading, it has built up £100k per month turnover; won contracts for work that previously could only be sourced from the USA and from France; and bought out another business in order to increase the size of its skilled workforce, add machining capacity, and provide more space.

AEL (Dorset) passed another milestone on its path to growth this month when, following sample approvals, a batch of 500 components it produced was sent for market trials, which are expected to lead to a major new order in May for deliveries in June and July. The contract represents massive savings and better quality for the client who has previously always bought these components from the USA or France.

From the outset AEL (Dorset) has targeted specific work in the aerospace, defence, hydraulic, electronic and medical sectors that demands high quality standards, together with design involvement for cost effective manufacture.

This philosophy, and the commitment to provide the best service as professionally as possible, lies behind the company's success, according to David Ross, who set up the company with two partners. The management team has a wealth of experience in technical solutions and a track record in working in partnership with clients.

AEL (Dorset)'s current plant list has been selected to meet specific customer needs. All the company's machine tools are new, except for those used for second operations. The latest additions are a 10-axis sliding head, and a 4-axis milling machine.
