Contract Won for New River Bridge Assemblies

JP Forrest & Son Ltd, a small mechanical engineering company based in North Nottinghamshire, has won a prestigious contract to manufacture assemblies for the new Dutch River Bridge at Goole, Humberside. The company has also recently expanded its workforce to include a small nightshift team of skilled horizontal borer operators and plater/welders, in order to provide a rapid response to customers in breakdown situations.

Work for the cable-stayed swing bridge includes manufacturing the mechanical locating pin, pintle, pier, tail and nose bearing. The contract includes supply of material, fabrication, machining and partial assembly in grade S355 steels up to 360mm thick.

The company specialises in the manufacture of welded fabrications, machining (particularly horizontal boring using the latest CNC technology), and assembly; from small sub-assemblies to complete machines including electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
