Move Gets Company Fit for The Future and Retains Skilled Workforce
01 May 2005
Last year Blagg and Johnson Ltd, moved from its original site in the town of Newark, to a new facility half a mile away. Many large, heavy presses and machines, plus all the ancillary equipment, computers and offices, were successfully relocated with minimal disruption to the production schedule. The move provides Blagg and Johnson with the flexibility and scope to compete in an evermore-competitive manufacturing environment.
The need to retain the dedicated and skilled workforce was the over-riding priority when it became clear that the demands of industry necessitated a move from the original site. To serve its customers in the most efficient way possible, Blagg and Johnson has to have the ability to work shifts.
With expertise in the manufacture of pressed and cold rolled steel sections, the company produces a wide range of fabricated assemblies up to six tonnes in weight, which include lifting platform booms, road gritter bodies, and railway rolling stock components.
