Robotic Welder Arrives at Upgraded CNC Factory
01 May 2005
The latest addition to the impressive array of machinery at the new CNC factory at Midland Tank and Ironplate (MTI), Birmingham, is a Daiden Fanuc 600 robotic, six-axis welder with a rotating change table. The company's new CNC factory is now complete and has doubled the floor space allowing room for the new robot and further planned acquisitions.
The robot will improve productivity by welding high volume fabrications from 1mm - 25mm thick using solid or flux cored wire and has the flexibility to cope with complex configurations.
MTI managing director Geoff Cox says: "We were one of the first companies in the Midlands to introduce a press brake way back in the early 60's. We had our first CNC punch press in the early 80's and our first CNC laser profile cutter in the mid 90's. We are now equipped with state of the art laser cutting, punching and bending facilities all operated by 3D CAD-CAM software together with robotic welding programmed in teach pendant mode."
