EDM Expert Increases Capacity for Larger Parts

Suffolk based precision engineers, Waveney Precision Ltd have taken delivery of a new, four tonne, Agie-Charmilles 330F wire EDM machine tool, which joins the company's existing EDM wire and sink machines, making the company one of the few in the UK which can claim full EDM capability and expertise.

"The new wire unit means that we can now machine much larger components than we could previously, " commented Alan Smith, Waveney Precision Ltd's managing director.

"We have an increasing demand for EDM work throughout the UK and Europe. Manufacturers are beginning to get to know about the huge advantages it can offer, solving machining problems and saving on costs. It's keeping us pretty busy and making sure we continue to expand."

Investment in non-contact EDM wire erosion and CNC die sink EDM sinking plant, together with the expertise of the team, enable Waveney Precision to provide a fast and cost effective solution to problems that can challenge conventional machining.

Wire EDM technology is particularly suited to the machining of complex forms, the rapid and economical production of prototype and low run parts, the machining of pre-hardened and exotic materials and achieving high tolerances and a quality surface that requires little or no additional finishing.
