Airbus Adopts 'Error Proof ' Jig As Benchmark
01 May 2005
Six senior Airbus engineers recently visited Remploy Automotive's Birmingham plant , which has made huge advances in close to zero defect component manufacture. Remploy has invented a range of 'error proof' intelligent jigs that are revolutionising the way car parts are built.
The technology was developed during a five-year research programme that has put Remploy Automotive at the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing techniques.
David Gibson, an Airbus Product Assurance Engineer, led the Airbus group. He said: "The way Remploy has developed this technology is quite remarkable and we will use the firm as a benchmark. It's given some of our engineers - even those with 20 years experience - a lot to think about."
