Military Fighting Vehicle Simulation Systems Completed on Target

Last month specialist engineering service provider Arunfabs completed a project to manufacture ten simulator frames for Lockheed Martin to be used in land based military training. The contract was completed on target within six months and demonstrates Arunfabs' project management experience, and technical knowledge built up over many years, developing and improving equipment for the armed forces and support services, also offering total manufacturing solutions to companies around the south east.

The 2.5m 2x 2m high box section steel frame assemblies weigh 300kg each and incorporate 50 components, including tread plates, cover panels, electronic enclosures and wheel supports, which were all made at Arunfabs' site in Worthing, West Sussex.

Arunfabs' project experience in manufacturing simulation systems extends to land vehicle, air to air and leisure. Typically projects involve system components and fabrications;

authentic one to one models, mechanical assemblies, mechanical design and documentation.

Close tolerance sheet metal work includes CNC punching, laser cutting, CNC forming, rolling, folding, machining, and hardware insertion. The full fabrication service includes a variety of welding processes: MIG, TIG, MMA, brazing, and stud welding; in addition to CNC machining capabilities for turning and milling. Painting and finishing through approved supplier network.

Arunfabs also uses 3D CAD and fast track prototyping techniques to limit corrections and changes prior to release resulting in cost savings, ease of assembly and quality during the development stages from the outset.
