New Profiler Boosts Sheet Metalworking Fabrication

Established in 1915 to assist the war efforts, Midland Tank & Ironplate was one of the first companies in the Midlands to recognise the potential of laser profiling back in the early 1990's.

The company has recently added a new 4kW laser profiling machine that boasts exceptional cutting speeds on virtually all materials, including mild steel, stainless, aluminium and certain grades of Perspex.

MTI's managing director said: "Our industry is now so competitive that the only way to remain in front is with the addition on the latest technology. This machine will certainly help give us the edge. We have additionally installed a Tower Server which automatically loads and unloads up to 15 tonnes of raw material enabling the machine to run unmanned for 24 hour production". He goes on to emphasise the accuracy and versatility of the machine from the simplest mild steel to the most complex alloyed steel component.

MTI has an impressive array of CNC controlled equipment for sheet metalwork including two Trumpf punch presses, five press brakes (up to 3m wide) coupled with robotic welding, MIG, TIG and spot welding facilities all operated by an experienced and skilled workforce.
