    Off Shore Operation Expands CNC Plant

    AMP Rose (P) Ltd the Bangalore based manufacturing operation of AMP Rose Gainsborough continues to expand its operations in India by moving to a new purpose built facility on the outskirts of Bangalore. In addition to this investment in larger factory premises, AMP Rose intends to expand its present manufacturing capabilities, by considerable expansion of its present CNC manufacturing operations. 

    CNC Milling to Microns Gives Edge to Precision Waterjet Cutting Service

    The addition of a 3-axis CNC milling machine at Leicester Water Jet Ltd gives the rare capability of in-house precision waterjet cutting to 0.1mm and CNC milling to microns. The company specialises in the precision profiling of metals, composites, stone, glass and plastics. 

    Five-axis Machining Extends Demo Facility 's Remit

The recent installation of a Mazak Variaxis 630-5X machining centre provides Delcam for the first time with a five-axis simultaneously controlled machining capability.

    WML Engineering Ltd, Swansea, has recently invested in a comprehensive data management system from Prospec Systems Ltd, a fellow member of the BTMA (the trade association for precision turned parts and machined component manufacturers in the UK). The new system links the company's parts database to its management system and makes available, at the touch of a button, all works orders, drawings, material traceability reports, batch and first off analyses. 

    Business Success Brings New Jobs

    A thriving Rotherham engineering firm has secured two new contracts, worth more than £2m a year. The rapidly expanding Newburgh Engineering has won business from oil industry leader Sondex Wireline to create a device that checks the condition of oil pipe walls. It has also gained a new agreement with Vetco Gray Controls to produce and supply a maintenance-free control valve for oil wells. 

    Laser Scanner Speeds Up New Rapid Response Engineering Service

    Holden Engineering, was acquired in January 2005 by current managing director Chris Perkins, who recognised that there was a need within the industry to provide a high-quality, rapid response engineering service for precision parts. The Derby based company has installed a state-of-the-art laser scanning facility (one of only nine of its kind in the UK) to complement a comprehensive machine tools capacity list, established over sixty years. 

    Exotic Alloy Machinist Increases Tool Life by 50%

    For CS Simmons Engineering Ltd, based in Radstock, Devon, current work on stainless steel impellers (see image on p4) demonstrates the company's specialist subcontract machining capability with regards to machining exotic alloys (including Hastalloy, Waspalloy, Inconel and numerous stainless steels in addition to titanium). The company has found that the Hanita Varimill range of cutters from ITC have increased tool life by 50% whilst improving surface finish. 

    A New Sliding Head Lathe Every Year Enables Multi-Task Processing

    West Yorkshire based Yorkshire Precision Engineering Ltd is exceeding projected targets year on year. Formed in early 2001 with just one Star sliding head lathe, the company has invested in another every year since. The most recent addition is a SV32J which has been so successful that there are plans for a 5th STAR later this year.
