Laser Scanner Speeds Up New Rapid Response Engineering Service

Holden Engineering, was acquired in January 2005 by current managing director Chris Perkins, who recognised that there was a need within the industry to provide a high-quality, rapid response engineering service for precision parts. The Derby based company has installed a state-of-the-art laser scanning facility (one of only nine of its kind in the UK) to complement a comprehensive machine tools capacity list, established over sixty years.

Since January, Holden Engineering has experienced an unprecedented period of growth. During that time, the company has attracted a number of new clients, currently operating across the aerospace and motorsport industries and aims to achieve a turnover of £2m by the end of 2006.

Holden Engineering's management team has attracted some of the most talented and experienced engineers currently working in the industry. The latest appointment to the firm is Craig Simpkins, who joins the company from Rolls Royce as operations manager.

Capable of replicating any type of component, the newly installed portable co-ordinate measuring machine monitors and records more than 23,000 points per second, enabling many enhanced levels of service, including reverse engineering, CAD comparison, rapid prototyping and pattern making, helping to reducing both time and cost to customers.
