Die-Caster Finds New Work After Longbridge
01 Apr 2006
With backing from supply chain initiative Accelerate, Tamworth-based high pressure die caster JV Murcott (JVM), has overcome loss of business from the closure of MG Rover, Longbridge, and secured nearly £2m worth of new business in the automotive sector by adding several major new clients to its customer base.
Significant success has come from the export market, with the firm now producing parts for a leading sports car manufacturer in Germany. JVM is currently working towards the TS16949 quality accreditation and petitioning for Q1.
JVM is also continuing to produce over three million Alistuds per year for players plying their trade in both Rugby Union and Rugby League. The 21mm boot studs, which are 3mm longer than conventional studs, first came to prominence when the World Cup winning England Rugby team wore them in the make-or-break games against France and Australia, which was contested in a virtual downpour for 80 minutes.
