Laser Pipe Cutting Ability Opens New Opportunities
01 Apr 2006
A major investment in a Trumpf Trumatic L6030 4kW laser with 6m x 2m bed and pipe cutting capability at Blagg & Johnson Ltd, should produce a 12.5% growth in turnover by offering superior accuracy and finish on sheet metal components in sizes, which few other subcontractors can match. The company also recently installed Lantek Expert system to programme all its machines effectively.
The investment in the new Trumpf is of major significance to Blagg & Johnson. Gordon Wright, sales and marketing manager, said: "The 6m bed size differentiates us from our competitors, while our Lantek Expert system provides the flexibility to programme all our machines effectively. The software is of crucial importance to the company, we would not be able to function without it."
It is anticipated that this will open up new opportunities with its existing customers and new markets in the petrochemical industry. The company already has a plasma cutter and a Strippit punch press programmed by Lantek Expert, both capable of cutting sheets up to 6m long.
The company produces cold rolled and pressed metal sections and fabricated assemblies for industries including automotive, agricultural, rail, mining and construction and notably, products for Heathrow Terminal 5.
