A new partnership programme aimed at improving the competitiveness of aerospace companies has been revealed by the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC). The Process Excellence initiative is being run in collaboration with the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) to help SMEs improve their performance in the face of increasing competition, particularly from lower cost countries.
The Process Excellence initiative will focus on strategic leadership, quality improvement to Six-Sigma levels, 100% on time delivery, 75% lead time reduction and 75 % reduction in non-value added activity. Participating companies will benefit from a free lean diagnostic session, lean awareness training and a tailor-made 'hands-on' improvement programme part funded by SEEDA/DTI.
