Finishing on a Jig Borer Transforms Worn Parts
01 Mar 2006
Manser Precision Engineering started in 1983 offering jig boring services to MOD aircraft subcontractors who did not have this facility in-house. Today the company continues to transform new or used parts with Swiss precision combined with modern coating technology. In these cases, low cost CNC work is not always economic on small production runs or unstable construction problems.
MPE acquired nearly the entire large capacity Swiss jig boring equipment and tooling from the former Vero Precision Engineering, Southampton. As this type of machinery is the mother of all other engineering applications, it remains excellent for MOD work, aerospace parts, marine engine servicing, chemical plant service work, and machine tool re-building.
This special set up handles jobs from 2g to 2000kg. Slideway grinding added to large jig borers means that geometry on metal cutting tools can be attained probably better than new.
