Corrosion & Wear Resistance

Environmental Investment Doubles Capacity

Corrosion control specialist Austin Hayes in Leeds has installed a second spray paint line, specifically designed to meet the new challenges of applying water based paint to MOD standards, whilst complying with environmental legislation. Creating turbulence in the flash off chamber, and increasing the booth sump capacity have improved the existing plant model, designed by production director Steve Graves. .

The line has capacity for coating 1200 units per day, in a 1200mm x 800mm envelope. The units processed are recycled for the MOD, including several manual stages in addition to the painting

The line was commissioned through Yorkshire Spray Services (YSS), who sourced P&P Products for manufacturing the plant, both companies based in Bradford. YSS has a strong partnership with Austin Hayes, and Steve had no doubt Ian Cairns, managing director of YSS, was the right choice. “Ian knows us, and he not only met the requirements set, he was able make suggestions that improved the project.”

Firwood Paints were chosen as the partner to design the water based product that had to meet MOD standards, but required by Austin Hayes to enable compliance with environmental legislation, now and also including the new limits required from October 2007. Austin Hayes offers specialised services in the fields of abrasive blasting, metal spraying, and the application of advanced surface coatings for metals, timbers and plastic substrates.
