Contours Cut Inside H and I Beams by Largest Six-Axis Laser in UK

The Laser Cutting Company's capability has been boosted by the installation of the biggest automatic tube and beam cutting machine in the UK. The special 6-axis head can swivel to cut contours and holes on the inside of H and I beams, until now an operation only achievable, slower and less accurately, by using plasma or flat bed cutting.

Enquiries Received From Far East for High Volumes

Norfolk based Ladbrook Engineering is an expert in pressed metal, and is currently handling enquiries from Sweden, Cyprus, China and the Far East. "We think that maybe they just do not have the capacity to take on more work and things are overheating, " said Mike Blowers, managing director at Ladbrook. "It's been really surprising how many of these enquiries have come through and how genuine they have been."

Growth in Throughput Follows Expansion

In the last 12 months, Lincoln based heat treatment division of Hoval Ltd has seen significant business growth from new customers, despite the 150% increase in gas prices. The company has seen a 400% increase in throughput for its new 'top-hat' normalising and solution annealing furnace, and a 40% increase in throughput for its large stress relieving furnace, which is the largest in the UK. Lighting up of the large furnace has increased from 2 or 3 times a week, to 3 or 4 times a week.

A new report from Jobcentre Plus shows that almost half of manufacturing businesses were on the look out to hire new faces last year. 2005 saw 45% of manufacturing businesses actively recruiting new staff which is up 2% on 2004. Manufacturing vacancies accounted for 10% of the total vacancies available across Britain.
