Profiling service boosted by £1.3 million

BJF Profiling Ltd recently invested £1.3 million in new equipment and premises. The investment is a sign of positive growth for the Kent based firm and establishes BJF as one of the South East's leading profiling companies offering an expanded portfolio of services to industry.

Bernie Faiers, managing director for BJF Profiling says:
Bernie Faiers, managing director for BJF Profiling says: "This investment in the latest technology will push BJF Profiling forward. It enables us to open up new markets in and beyond the southern region."

BJF has purchased four of the latest profiling machines which enable them to cut a greater variety of materials to a wider range of thicknesses. This should satisfy BJF's broad range of markets which includes general engineers, structural engineers, civil engineers, shop fitters, sign makers, designers and machine manufacturers throughout Southern England and Continental Europe.

The four profiling machines are an L Trumpf 5kW Flatbed Laser, Trumpf Tubematic Tube Profiler, Flow waterjet dynamic head with a 3m x 2m bed and an Espirit Plasma Cutter with a 8.5m x 2m bed.

The L Trumpf 5kW Flatbed Laser is used for cutting through metal sheet and plate and uses linear drive technology. Speed and acceleration values are twice as fast as comparable laser cutting centres, offering increased productivity to its users.

The Trumpf Tubematic Tube Profiler provides flexible high volume processing of round, box and rectangular tubing and pipes. The Flow dynamic waterjet produces more accurate parts at higher cutting speeds than a conventional waterjet. The machine is capable of cutting a variety of different materials.

The large 8.5m x 2m bed with the Espirit Plasma Cutter cuts steel. The large bed allows sizeable materials to be cut without the material size exceeding bed capacity.

Bernie Faiers, managing director for BJF Profiling says: "This investment in the latest technology will push BJF Profiling forward. It enables us to open up new markets in and beyond the southern region. The machines will make our prices more competitive for our customers because they are faster and cut down labour costs. The plasma cutter we have acquired along with the 8.5m x 2m bed is larger than most used by our competitors. The plasma cutter is able to profile materials of a much broader thickness.

This enables a wider range of designs to be created and a variety of new manufacturing solutions to be available to civil engineers using structural steel, all at a lower cost than the traditional laser profiling."

BJF Profiling (formerly BJF Lasers) was established in 1988. The laser profiling service cuts a wide range of materials including steel, all metals, plastics, granite, rubber and acrylics.

BJF's core markets are general engineers, civil engineers, structural engineers, shop fitters, sign makers, specialist's engineers, designers and machine manufacturers through Southern England and continental Europe.
