    Sliding heads put new capacity on line at Metaltech

    Since 2001, subcontractor Metaltech Precision has machined a family of six 19 mm diameter parts from Swedish iron bar on one of its 20 fixed-head lathes for a customer in the railway industry. In 2006, production volumes suddenly doubled, causing director Steve Hill to reassess the job.  

    Refurb programme for Rodmatic’s 37 multi-auto lathes

    After an in-depth quality and machine reliability survey Rodmatic Multico of Reading has initiated a programme of on-site overhaul and refurbishment of its 37 Wickman multi-spindle automatic lathes.

    Some of the acrylic barrels and caps for Parker Pen Company’s world famous writing instruments are being machined by Dorking-based contract supplier, Carville.  

    Davromatic develops real-time in-process QC for mill-turned sliding head components

    Turned parts subcontractor, Davromatic Precision, has achieved what it believes to be a world first by developing a measuring system for real-time, in-process quality control of components as they are mill-turned on its multi-axis CNC sliding-headstock lathes.
