Typical applications for Vicote coatings are in the aerospace, automotive, electronics, construction, mining, food processing, medical, chemical process, energy and offshore industries, as well as in other sectors where high surface durability and long component life are primary requirements.

Said Andrew Storm, global ventures business leader for Lancashire-based Victrex plc: “Vicote coatings have already demonstrated increases in the life of the coated part of between 50% and 200% in a number of areas; they are under evaluation in analytical, semiconductor, and medical applications because they provide a naturally lubricious, non-sloughing, and very tough and strong protective layer over metals, ceramics and glass at temperatures up to 260°C. The coatings are resistant to chemicals such as salts, water/steam, alkalis, acids and aromatic hydrocarbons. They are also being evaluated in the food industry because they are dishwasher safe and FDA food contact approved.
