The State of the Art in Rotary and Linear Friction Welding

An industry-focused seminar ‘Rotary and Linear Friction Welding: The State of the Art’ will be held at TWI Ltd, Cambridge on 21 June 2007. This event will bring together leading authorities on rotary and linear friction welding who will present a clear picture of the current state of the art and their predictions for the future.

It will also provide a unique opportunity for networking with others with common interests.

Friction welding processes are remarkably adaptable and the presentations will give an insight into recent developments in rotary and linear friction welding which make the processes more attractive to industry. In addition, real and potential applications for welding and fabrications will be discussed, which can be of value in both high and low volume industrial applications in a wide variety of materials. This will include novel developments such as near net shape manufacturing.

TWI Ltd is one of the world's foremost research and technology organisations with over 450 staff providing technical support in welding, joining and associated technologies such as NDT, surfacing, coating and cutting. TWI is internationally renowned for its multidisciplinary teams that implement established or advanced joining technology solving problems at any stage – from initial design, materials selection, production and quality assurance, through service performance to repair. A key feature of this event will be the opportunity for delegates to have one-to-one meetings with TWI experts.
