Fabricator's ‘Taylormade’ machining service launched
14 Nov 2007
Fabricating engineers A.Taylor & Son of Leeds has announced the launch of its subcontract machining facility. The machine shop, which has predominantly served the company's in-house needs for over 15 years, has been expanded to offer subcontract services to the engineering sector as a whole.
The subcontract machining facility is situated in it’s own 22,000 sq ft bespoke premises, which is only one mile from A Taylor's core fabrication centre.
To compliment an impressive array of machine tools, A.Taylor recently installed a Dorries CNC vertical Bbrer with a 2m diameter table capacity, a CNC hi-power Elgamill, a second Moreseki machining centre, and a CNC retrofit of a Butler Elgamill with a large table capacity spanning 1.5m x 6.5m x 2.5m high.
In addition, the company will shortly commission a Kuraki horizontal borer with a 2m table and a smaller Hitachi Seiki twin pallet horizontal machining centre.
Other developments at A.Taylor include the opening earlier this year of a third site at Pepper Road in Leeds. This has added a further 30,000 sq ft of production capacity and allowed the company to re align its core skill base, with each site specialising in a different engineering discipline, namely: steel processing, fabrication and machining.
Further expansion is planned for the coming year.
