Autolink highlights automotive excellence
30 Oct 2007
Autolink, the UKs premier automotive collaboration event is to be held again in Birmingham on the 10th April 2008. A number of Tier 1s have already agreed to participate, Kriss Akabusi has agreed to speak, and MAS and Accelerate have agreed to be sponsors.
Held at the Technology Innovation Centre at Birmingham, Autolink brings together manufacturers, suppliers, innovative start ups and public sector support organisations. Its primary objective is to encourage the UK automotive industry, down through its supply chain and in conjunction with academia, to discuss potential opportunities for collaboration and innovative product and process development.
The main feature of the event is a series of pre-arranged meetings between the delegates. The event also features an exhibition which showcases automotive excellence and a short conference programme highlighting the competitive advantage that SME companies, in particular, can derive from working together in cooperation.
In 2007 the event attracted 142 delegates from 95 individual companies and organisations. Of these 52 were SMEs (23 from outside of the Midlands area), 18 were OEMs or Tier 1s and 17 were academic or public sector organisations. The major OEMs attending were General Motors, BMW, Prodrive, GKN, Jaguar and Land Rover. The delegates were primarily at MD or Director level.
