K 2007 International Trade Fair Plastics & Rubber has closed its doors, and the dates of the next K are: K2010 27th October to 3rd November 2010, Düsseldorf. As the shop window of a growing and dynamic industry, it is perhaps no surprise that this year's optimistic expectations of K were topped.
The event attracted a total of over 242,000 visitors from around 100 countries, showing a healthy increase over 2004, where 231,000 people attended. Exhibitor levels too, were higher, with 2007 producing 3,130, (2004: 2,904).
Around 230 million tonnes of plastics and more than 20 million tonnes of rubber are produced and processed each year. Without plastics and rubber, the way we live today would be unthinkable – whether it’s in packaging or in the construction, electrical, medical, consumer goods or house building sectors, polymer materials with their virtually unlimited properties and applications play a key role
The presentations of machinery and equipment manufacturers, raw material producers and plastics processors were complemented this year at K by a special presentation highlighting the performance capabilities of polymers. Practical demonstrations and expert discussions focused on innovations in production and processing, energy efficiency, environmental protection and sustainability.
