SSC invests in better bending

SSC Laser Cutting has invested more than £100,000 in a Beyeler hydraulic press brake that will dramatically increase its capacity for bending and folding laser cut components.

The new press brake has a 150 tonne capacity and can fold parts of up to 3000mm in length and 6mm in thickness, and is fitted with a pressure reference thickness system to ensure bend accuracy.

The machine also has a five-axis CNC back gauge to allow the production of complex and tapered parts, while a comprehensive tooling package allows a wider range of radiuses than is possible on SSC’s current press brakes. This is stored in an automated tooling magazine.

Clyde Cotterill, who operates the pressbraking machinery at SSC says.

“The tooling magazine in particular will save valuable time and energy. Our main concern is to produce components of the highest quality, and I think the Beyeler will deliver.”
