UK manufacturers take to online sourcing

British companies are increasingly using the internet to find suppliers, says research from MFG.com, the global marketplace for the manufacturing community. 78% of companies surveyed currently outsourced some proportion of their engineering parts manufacture, and 85% of these say that they are currently using the internet as a sourcing tool.

MFG.com conducted the survey at the end of its highly-successful first year of entry into the UK market and found that British buyers and engineers have been quick to take to its online sourcing platform. After just one year, 17% of the European requests for quotation (RFQs) posted in Europe come from UK-based buyers – the same level that Germany and France have achieved over three years.

MFG.com gives buyers and engineers from manufacturers of all sizes the ability to access MFG.coms marketplace free of charge so they can start sourcing and identifying the best suppliers in a matter of minutes. Whether an organization is looking for a single standard part or thousands of built-to-order components, MFG.com is a one-stop sourcing solution. Manufacturers save money and time. MFG.com also brings opportunity to distributors and suppliers from around the world giving them direct access to sourcing professionals and engineers that have an immediate need for the parts that they supply.

The UK market is a significant part of the global manufacturing ecosystem, said Paul de La Rochefoucauld, managing director and co-founder of MFG.com Europe. UK buyers are turning to MFG.com to connect with suppliers in Europe and around the world. It is our job to continually provide them with the right resources and support so they can do their jobs more efficiently.

The MFG.com marketplace, which facilitates billons of pounds in manufacturing transactions annually, supports 10 languages, giving the MFG.com community the ability to do business with people throughout the world.
