‘Higher, faster, further’ trend continues in high-precision
17 Sep 2007
When the doors to EMO Hannover opened on Monday (17 Sept), the first of the tens of thousands of expected international production experts eagerly sought out the latest information on new products, solutions and services for industrial production.
With 365 out of a total pool of 2,118 exhibitors, the precision machining tools section commands far more exhibitors than any other single display area at EMO Hannover 2007.
The manufacturers of cutting tools have numerous technical innovations up their sleeves for Hannover. The trend towards "higher, faster, further" continues unbroken this year.
In numerous newly developed machines, the feed velocity has been increased, the surface quality improved, the tool life travel extended, and new, difficult applications mastered for process reliability. But the topic of resource economy is also high on the agenda of many cutting tool vendors. Thus machining technology helps not only with resource economy but saves the customer money into the bargain.
Chucking-tool manufacturers, too, will be premiering new highlights. Technical advances here are centred around: simple handling, short change-over times, plus high reproducibility and true running.
Metrological trends will also be on show at the EMO, such as metrological software with new capabilities for creating measuring programs to be used on equipment from different manufacturers. But more accurate, faster and user-friendlier measuring machines, or design enhancement of optical metrological technology for difficult applications, will also be on show at the EMO on the stands of branded-goods manufacturers.
The precision tool manufacturers, together with their trade organisation, the VDMA Precision Tools, have at the EMO signed up to the "pro original" campaign. With the slogan: "Choose the Original - Choose Success", the firms are targeting the customers and the public with the aim of ensuring a sustained boost in awareness for the value of original production technology.
