Induction hardening line saved for UK

CHTA member Meltham Mills Engineering has purchased a high-capacity induction hardening line from GKN Sintered Metals after the closure of the Lichfield site. After refurbishment, this new facility will be able to offer a complete subcontract service with high capacity at low production costs.

MME will refurbish and expand the capacity and capability of the equipment which will include in-line tempering and crack detection.

Based in Meltham Mills near Huddersfield, the company supplies fully machined, heat treated and surface finished power transmission components to the world’s leading earth moving and agricultural vehicle manufacturers.

The company’s fully equipped heat treatment facilities include: Carburising to 3.5mm depth; Press quenching; Normalising; Annealing; Hardening & tempering; Induction hardening; Straightening; Shot blasting; Shot peening; Refrigeration for austenite conversion; Vaquablasting and surface cleaning; Phosphating and corrosion inhibition.
