Incubator helps bring innovative product ideas to market
07 Sep 2007
Wideblue, the Glasgow-based Polaroid spin-out, has taken a £100,000 equity stake in young biosciences company Centeo. This investment has been matched by an equivalent amount from the Scottish Enterprise Seed Fund.
Wideblue helps young companies take their product from concept to commerical production by providing engineering, technical, manufacturing and marketing skills and expertise.
“Centeo is typical of the young companies developing breakthrough technologies that Wideblue wants to work with,” said Jim Hall, CEO, Wideblue. “What sets us apart from the typical incubator is our ability to help clients take an idea and produce a commercially viable product at the end. We have a team of 14 highly skilled engineers, scientists and manufacturing experts whose knowledge and experience clients can tap into to solve practically any problem. The investment in Centeo is in line with our strategy of identifying highly innovative product ideas which we believe are going to be successful in the market and ultimately will be profitable for the owners and investors. “
Pat McHugh from the Scottish Enterprise Seed Fund commented: “We are delighted to be working with Wideblue on this exciting project. We hope this is the start of a successful syndicate relationship with Wideblue which will benefit many young Scottish companies in the future.”
