Global power in aerospace materials is launched at Farnborough
15 Jul 2008
ThyssenKrupp Services announced the launch of ThyssenKrupp Aerospace, the world's first global materials service provider, at the Farnborough Airshow. The new company incorporates ThyssenKrupp's existing aerospace distribution and supply chain management businesses with Apollo Metals and Aviation Metals, which it acquired earlier this year.
The new business will trade globally under the ‘ThyssenKrupp Aerospace’ name and be managed by a single global management team led by Stuart Wilkins, its President.
ThyssenKrupp Aerospace will reduce customer's supply chain costs by providing a comprehensive material service from the just in time delivery of processed metals through to finished parts kitting.
Its multi-national team consists of over 1000 people based at 30 quality-approved service centres, located in all the aerospace manufacturing regions of the world. These locally-based teams are able to work with customers and their sub contractors to fully understand their requirements at a local level and, through the application of advanced software tools, are then able to aggregate demand on a global basis.
As a result, customers can take full advantage of ThyssenKrupp Aerospace's purchasing leverage to achieve optimum material pricing, whilst ensuring that every member of their supply chain is provided with a local service
tailored to their individual needs.
Commenting at the launch of the new company at the Farnborough Airshow, Stuart Wilkins, President of
ThyssenKrupp Aerospace said:
"ThyssenKrupp Aerospace has been established to respond to the increasingly global nature of the aerospace industry. We have created a business which has the scale to partner the worlds leading OEMs and their supply chains. Recognising that the aerospace industry is facing many new
challenges, ThyssenKrupp Aerospace incorporates unrivalled experience, flexibility and financial strength to meet these challenges both now and in the future."
