Investments pay off for award-winning supply chain partner
16 Jul 2008
When it comes to machined components, Stockport based Components Worldwide / Mini Gears was described by the judges at this year’s MWP Awards as 'very market aware - investments in the latest technology have paid dividends.'
Winning the award for Best Subcontractor - Supply Chain Partnerships, the judges saw the company as 'Transformed from a specialist gear manufacturer only to a company now offering a full range of machining capability and components sourced world-wide, maintaining high quality but at reduced prices.' Components Worldwide is a UK subcontract engineering company supplying to world-wide markets across various industries, offering a complete sourcing and machining package for metal components including machined parts, gears, racks, castings, forgings, stampings and fabrications. By continually assessing its customers' current needs and being dedicated to providing them with the most cost effective quality products to enable them to successfully compete in their respective markets, Components Worldwide has expanded both in its locations and machinery.
To further expand its milling capacity at its UK factory the company took delivery of a 3 metre Haas VF-10 milling machine in January 2008 and, after 3 successful months of production, placed a further order for a 2 metre Haas VF-7D SE milling machine which is due in September. These investments are in addition to the recent purchase of 3 powerful 5 axis multitasking CNC Mazak Integrex machining centres which took the company into the arena of one hit machining in 2006.
In addition to the 35,000 sq.ft factory in the UK, Components Worldwide now has sourcing facilities in China and India and has its own factory, Geartech s.r.o., in the Czech Republic. With 4 axis prismatic machining capability at Geartech and specialist broaching services the company has a machining and warehouse facility ideally situated in the centre of Europe. These four locations provide the flexibility to mix supply and machining to suit our customers’ requirements, products are either bought in as a finished item or just at the raw material stage to be finished at one of the factories. All enquiries are dealt with by a team of technical sales engineers in the UK.
Components Worldwide, www.componentsworldwide.com, will be exhibiting for the first time in Ireland this year at Manufacturing Technology Ireland at the National Show Centre in Dublin, 5th & 6th November, Stand No. 1.
