Southern show returns to Farnborough
25 Nov 2008
The Southern Manufacturing & Electronics Show returns to Farnborough on February 11th and 12th 2009. Building on the success of the 2008 event, which witnessed a record-breaking attendance, the organisers are confident that it attract even more high-calibre visitors next February.
The high proportion of first-time visitors in 2008 reflects Southern Manufacturing's continuing growth in popularity amongst manufacturing professionals. Now a major fixture in the UK industrial calendar, its expansion and relocation to the Farnborough International Venue & Events facility (FIVE) last year proved to be a watershed in the show's eleven year history, allowing organiser European Trade & Exhibition Services (ETES) to broaden its appeal to an even wider cross-section of manufacturing industry.
Show director Phil Valentine explains: “Along with its accessibility, one of the great attractions of the Southern show is the sheer diversity of suppliers that take part. It is no exaggeration to say that pretty much every kind of industrial product or process is represented at Southern Manufacturing, giving visitors the unique opportunity to experience all the latest tooling, technology products and services in a single, convenient visit. There simply isn't another event like it.”
As in previous years, Southern Manufacturing 2009 will run alongside its sibling event, Southern Electronics. "There is a natural synergy between the two shows", comments Mr Valentine. "Because a large percentage of manufacturing involves both mechanical and electronics assembly processes: Having both shows running together means that buyers can meet both kinds of suppliers easily." For 2009, the FIVE venue will also host a third show - an area dedicated to specialist aerospace/automotive engineering suppliers called Auto Aero 09. Farnborough was the birthplace of the British aviation industry and many of the UK's biggest aerospace businesses are still located in the area, making Auto Aero 09 an extremely convenient marketplace for buyers and suppliers to meet.
All of the regular features of the Southern Manufacturing show will return in 2009, including free technical seminars, technology trails that allow visitors to make the most efficient use of their time at the show and specialist areas such as the Machinery Centre, where the latest machines can be seen in action.
Entry to the show and the seminars is completely free to business visitors, and FIVE Farnborough offers free car parking, superb access by road, rail or air, and an excellent selection of local hotels and restaurants to make your visit as enjoyable as it is productive.
