Precision engineer lines up funding for growth
06 Oct 2008
C & J Precision Engineering Ltd, (C & J) a precision engineering specialist based in Wrotham, Kent, is bucking the trend in the slowing engineering market after securing a line of funding from Cattles Invoice Finance to help realise its ambitions for growth.
C & J supplies precision gauging and tooling equipment to the automotive industry. As a small company in a slow-moving market, it realised that fulfilling its growth targets required the management to focus on business development rather than administration. Since placing payment collection in the hands of Cattles, the company now has more time to ensure that the business operates as efficiently as possible.
Shaun Compton, managing director of C & J says, 'With Cattles on board I have been able to concentrate on running the company without the hassle and worry of chasing invoices. I now have more time available for attracting more new business and take the company forward.'
Nick Haggitt, associate director at Cattles Invoice Finance in London & South East comments, 'Businesses like C & J frequently find that they are unable to grow because key people have to devote time to paperwork and admin rather than focusing on growing the company.'
In fact, Cattles' most recent survey of small businesses revealed that nearly half of all engineering companies in the UK, like C & J, spend over five hours a week outside normal working time dealing with day-to-day finance issues.
The first few years of an entrepreneurial business are critical as this is when the foundations of growth are laid. Taking away the distraction of cash flow worries and management of credit control means the owner-manager can focus on building their business, and this is where Cattles has helped hundreds of companies throughout the UK stabilise and consolidate their positions.
