Tube workers upgrade to laser
29 Oct 2008
Technical Tubes Limited, which provides a full tube manipulation and fabrication subcontract service to a wide range of industries, has invested in a Bystronic ByVention 2.2 laser cutting system.
The combination of a skilled workforce and investment in the latest production equipment allows Technical Tubes to manufacture products from development, prototype through to volume production. Customers include companies in industries such civil engineering, marine, heating and ventilation, agricultural engineering, earth moving equipment, automotive, motorcycle accessories, healthcare products, materials handling equipment and shop fitting.
Although the company had realised the benefits laser cutting could bring to the business several years ago, it was only when a need to update an existing plasma machine and an existing CNC punching machine arose that the company finally decided to invest in its first laser cutting system.
David Morley, Technical Tubes managing director, comments:"'We looked at various laser suppliers before opting for the ByVention equipped with 2.2 kW resonator. We produce mainly small components and do not need a bigger resonator yet the machine will allow us to provide our customers with alternative benefits."
"Our operators have adapted easily to the machine and our customers are reaping the benefits of high-quality, precision cut laser components."
