Hampshire-based ICEE has increased capacity by taking delivery of a Bystronic BySprint 3m by 1.5m table fibre laser, the first of this model sold in the UK.

The new machine can cut mild steel up to12mm, stainless steel up to 6mm and aluminium up to 8mm. The versatility of the technology also allows for brass and copper to be cut up to 4mm and 3mm respectively.

The fibre optic laser will not only allow ICEE to offer quicker cutting but also a fully comprehensive cutting service.

Alongside its existing waterjet cutting machine, ICEE will be able to offer a cost effective service to a wider market by selecting the most appropriate technology.

The laser is the best option for thin metal sheet and waterjet is ideal for unusual or thick materials (up to 200mm).

The added capacity will also enable ICEE to refine its bespoke enclosure fabrication service by improving efficiencies, turnaround and offering a more competitive pricing structure.
