Lodent invests to boost press tool capacity
Lodent has added a large vertical machining centre and a 600t mechanical press to its capacity
West Midlands toolmaker and subcontractor Lodent Precision has invested in two large machine tools that extend its ability to make and trial large press tools.
These are a 600t Verson Wilkins mechanical press with a 3650mm by 2250mm bed and a 2m by 1m by 1m capacity vertical machining centre that complements an existing machine.
The press has a bed area of and the second is a Vertical Machining Centre, and the new large Correa machining centre complements a Lodent’s first large machining centre.
Director Paul Riley says: “In November 2008, we installed our first large machining centre, which has a capacity of 4000mm x 2000mm which has attracted larger work for us. Consequently we have been manufacturing larger progression and transfer tools and these tools need to be proven before shipment to our customer. By installing the press we can now accommodate the majority of tooling requirements from our UK and European customers.”
He adds: “To satisfy our customer’s demands for a speedy turn around of new and modified existing tooling we needed to offer the complete service. The company is still growing even in these uncertain times. We still strive to be the best in all areas, knowledge, technology, capacity and service.
“Lodent is still investing, at a time when most of the UK tool making industry is contracting. Our investment stands us in good stead for the future and allows us to remain competitive globally whilst offering the complete service to our customers.”
