Refrigerated transport specialist Thermo King depends on the low volume tooling and moulding service of ARRK for injection moulded refrigeration panels.
Thermo King initially approached ARRK about tooling when it was considering injection moulding as an alternative method of production for a number of refrigeration panels. Thermo King was keen to explore the range of injection moulding solutions on offer, as well as taking advantage of ARRK’s technical support and global resources.
After a number of consultations, Thermo King commissioned a suite of tools from ARRK consisting of a curved side panel tool, top cover, grill, belt and a small insert tool. With tools cut from P20 steel and all using hot runners with a gloss polished finish, ARRK then ensured a suitable material was sourced to produce quality parts to an exact colour match to that specified by the client.
It was anticipated that moulding quantities would be in the region of 400 sets a month, however, even with the recent economic downturn moulding quantities have actually increased.
