Vapormatt has opened a contract processing centre offering a range of surface treatment and finishing operations including blasting, cleaning, shot peening and protective coating.

The service is aimed at automotive engineering companies and component manufacturers involved in metals and composites technologies, production and maintenance operations.

The first contract process centre is in Gloucester and further centres are planned for strategic locations throughout the UK.

Processes undertaken by the new facility include: wet and dry blasting using all types of media; composites preparation for bonding and painting; die and mould cleaning; cutting tool enhancement for post-grinding, pre- and post- coating; shot peening for fatigue life improvement; peen-forming;  the blacking of steel parts; and “phosmatting” for rubber to metal bonding and sub-coating protection. The surface treatment and processing of wire, cable and strip materials as well as basic component refurbishment are also on offer.

Robin Ashworth, managing director of Vapormatt, said: “Over the last couple of years we have recognised the growing need amongst our automotive customers in particular, for a trustworthy single-source for their specialist surface treatment and finishing requirements – one that offers a high quality, quick turnaround range of surface process services. “

In addition to its subcontract services, Vapormatt produces a wide range of standard and special-purpose surface processing machines.
