The supply chain has a great opportunity to embrace the green agenda says MAS-WM’s Rachel Eade
Automotive companies in the West Midlands can find out how to boost competiveness by ‘greening their supply chain’ at a special one day event.
To be held on 15 September at the Confederation of British Metalforming’s head-office in West Bromwich, and organised by the ‘Manufacturing Advisory Service – West Midlands’, it will look to provide 25 firms with an unrivalled insight into improving their competitiveness through embracing best practice resource and process efficiency and by reducing their energy usage
Specialists from Jaguar Land Rover and Brockhouse Group will talk in detail about what they look for in a ‘green supplier’ and how they have tapped into support to improve their own operations.
There will also be an introduction to low carbon assistance available through MAS-WM, including a dedicated hotline (0845 245 0845), specialist advisers, manufacturing reviews and strategic improvement projects.
“The supply chain has a great opportunity to embrace the green agenda, but it has to act now if it is going to make the most of it,” explained MAS-WM’s Rachel Eade.
“This event will ensure suppliers get the right advice through an insight into what the industry is expecting, a combination of real life case studies and a clear gateway to subsidised support.”
MAS-WM Auto is a dedicated offer for automotive suppliers and is part of the organisation’s umbrella of support it offers to more than 1900 manufacturers every year.
The service is designed to provide the latest information and data for the sector, whilst also promoting the West Midlands supply chain to domestic and international customers.
Individual company advice and mentoring will also be available, including a referral service to other support programmes.
Rachel concluded: “It’s important for the vitality of the West Midlands’ manufacturing community that we can offer a service that caters for the rapidly evolving automotive sector.
“The ‘Greening Supply Chain’ event is just one of a number of networking seminars planned for the next six months, all of which are free of charge for interested companies.
“There will also be news of a regional SMMT membership offer local firms can take advantage of.”
