Ledwood Mechanical Engineering has delivered five giant sulphur reduction scrubber units to the Valero Pembroke oil refinery on Milford Haven.

The units were fabricated at Ledwood’s facilities in the Port of Pembroke to support the oil refining process. Nick Revell, of Ledwood Mechanical Engineering, explains a key benefit to manufacturing at the Port of Pembroke is the ability to fabricate such large and complex structures together with the integration of pipework and electricals, all under one roof.

“Putting equipment together as a complete unit in the safety of our own workshop was of great benefit; we had everything to hand, ensuring familiarity of operating environment and allowing for continuity of our working processes making it a safer, more accurate and quicker job.

“We are really proud of the port’s capability for heavy-lifting projects such as Ledwood’s” says Claire Palmer of Milford Haven Port Authority.

“Our reputation is growing and stands us in good stead to help the region become a key player in fabrication and marine and engineering services for both the on-shore and offshore energy industries, especially renewable technologies.”

Expert in the oil and gas and power generations industries, Ledwood is a leader in complex project management work at oil refineries, gas processing and power generation plants.
