From moulder to customer
Icon was able to injection mould and assemble three components and pad print the customers’ logo
Icon Plastics (Stand G4 at Subcon) is a precision injection moulder offering full turnkey solutions. The company can take a customer’s project from development through to full scale manufacture, take in existing business or simply supply reliable manufacture, assembly and storage.
On a project for the plastic enclosure for a medical product the client approached Icon not only for injection moulding but some additional secondary operations giving them a totally managed one stop solution as their current supplier was not able to do so. Icon was able to injection mould and assemble three components and pad print the customers’ logo – supplying the client with a completed product. As a result the product can now be shipped directly overseas for the customer to sell on.
ICON currently employs 22 full time staff and has a turnover of approximately £1.6 million. Created in 2002, in October 2009 it outgrew its old site and moved to a 27,000 sq ft secure bonded facility which has enabled it to offer additional added value services.
ICON’s core disciplines include new product development, complex moulding and assembly, and supply chain optimisation. It operates 24/7 on three shifts offering line-side and JIT delivery.
Machines range from 40 tonnes up to 370 tonnes and are supported by auxiliary equipment such as dryers, robots, laser marker and hotfoil printer.
