Turkish subcontracting at Subcon
Turkish subcontractors are making their presence felt at this year's Subcon exhibition.
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) is one of Turkey’s largest nongovernmental organizations aiming to promote foreign and domestic economic development within the city of Istanbul, as well as support the Turkish economy as a whole.
To achieve these goals, ICOC helps identify and solve issues relating to doing business in/with Turkey’s private sector; improves business and investment environments domestically and abroad; enables greater understanding and access to foreign markets; and advances international commercial relations.
With nearly 300,000 active members, ICOC is one of the largest chambers of commerce in the world and an active member of the international business community. Each year, ICOC hosts more than 50 foreign trade delegations, organizes around 15 fairs and exhibitions abroad in order to contribute to the introduction of Turkish companies and products to foreign markets, and organizes more than 100 informative meetings, conferences, seminars and events.
The Turkish Subcontracting Exchange was established in 1990, with the co-operation of The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), to match international demand with local supply.
The Subcontracting Exchange is a technical information source and promotion mechanism for industrial subcontracting. It acts not only as the meeting point and the instrument of regulation between the supply and the demand of industrial subcontracting orders, but it also assists both parties, particularly the small and medium subcontracting enterprises.
Turkish subcontractors at Subcon include:
Large fasteners for heavy applications
Turkish exhibitor Berdan Bolt & Nut will be showing a range of fastening components, covering bolts, nuts, studbolts and anchors, for heavy engineering and energy sector applications.
This will include heat and pressure resistant studbouts in ASTMA 193 Gr B7, B8 and B9 as well as 10.9 steel construction bolts nuts and washers and CE certified dip-galvanised connecting bolts for wind turbine towers. It will also show special nits and studbolts to connect wind power blades to rotors, hammer head anchor bolts to secure rolling mill equipment and dam shutter fasteners for hydroelectric plants. These latter bolts can be 200mm in diameter and 9.8m long.
Recent investments at Berdan to support this include new eco-friendly hot dip and electro-galvanising plants – which ensure there is no hydrogen embrittlement. It also has a fully equipped laboratory, heat treatment plant and a newly established production capability to produce 1 to 3m fully threaded special bolts.
The company has been established for 40 years and is the only company in Turkey in its sector with the CE Certificate and TUCSamark, and one of only two companies in its sector with product liability insurance.
All products are delivered with independent ISO EN 3.1 (B) certification.
Special achievements to meet customers specific requirements include the supply of hot dip galvanised, fully threaded studbolts in lengths of two to three metres, 155mm diameter dam shutter bolts weighing 1.5 tons and 5.5m long 140mm diameter hammer head bolts to anchor rolling mill stands in iron and steel plants.
